Accutane - Two questions

Accutane - Two questions

Hey, I'm an 18 year old male and have moderate acne.  I've been going to a dermatologist for years and various creams/anti-biotics haven't really helped. I know I was on doxycyclin for years.

My doctor recommended I start Accutane (Isotretinoin)  After a blood test earlier this week, I started taking Accutane today and have two questions...

First, I'm about 155 pounds.  My dermatologist has me taking 70mg (30 in the morning, 40 in at night).  Does this sound right?

Second, what's the deal with alcohol and accutane?  I don't see anything on the box warning not to consume alcohol while on Accutane (which has literally hundreds of warnings).  However, I know Accutane effects your liver so I'm assuming you shouldn't drink?  My doctor didn't mention anything about not drinking either.

Hi.
155lbs is about 70kg. The usual dose for Accutane is between 0.5 and 1mg per day X kg patients bodyweight. So you would take between 35mg and 70mg, depending on the severity of your acne and how well you tolerate the potential side effects.
You're right- whilst alcohol won't interfer with how your medicine works (hence it is not mentioned in the leaflet) it can cause problem with your liver, so avoid excessive alcohol consumption.

Also, is my eyes feeling kind of tired a side effect?

Dry eyes is a common side effect, use some eye drops. Virtually everyone gets dry lips too, use Vaseline or Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. If your skin becomes fragile or dry use a bland cleanser and moisturiser such as Cetaphil, La Roche-Posay or Lutsine.

Are contacts ok?

And with alcohol consumption, it feels like its taking me longer than it should to sober up?
