Accutane , once again??

hi, 5 yrs back i had severe acne problem.(now i am 26) that time the skin specialist suggested Accutane as the last alternative. So took it for a few months, with wonderful results. no skin problems for 5 years.had a bit of hair loss though. but now, its back again to square one. again getting puss filled acne, nodules, and pustules, again making both my cheeks red.
Should i go for Acctuane dose once again? my main worry is hair loss, cause the first time i took it, it has caused visible hair recession.
any suggestion would be really appreciated.

Hi. 20% of Accutane patients (including me) require a second course. Permanent hair loss is rare, and you must consider whether the expected benefit of taking this drug outweighs the potential side effects. Please read my journal and see the photos in my profile.

thanks a lot for your reply. anyways it may sound bit weird or something, but recently i read on some sites that milk and milk products flares up acne. i had always been taking milk everyday from childhood.  i stopped taking milk from 2 days and it seems to have reduced the intensity of new acne coming up. of course it may be just a phase, but it seems to be working atleast now. will keep you posted after 10 days or so , if it really is beneficial.

Hi. Diet has not been proven to affect acne. However, milk contains hormones and acne is caused by an excess of, or a sensitivity to androgens (male hormones). Avoiding dairy products may therefore help. Soya milk may be beneficial as it is not a dairy product and is often enriched with Zinc and Vitamin A, both of which are beneficial to skin.
