Accutane Question..Please Respond!

I'm thinking of going on Accutane. Do you know how accutane prevents acne from returning? Also, why do people's faces become worse before they get better on Tane? What happenes to the pimples on your face already?

Hi. With accutane, and other acne products, there is a possibility your acne may worsen for the first two weeks because unseen pimples under the skin are forced to the surface.
Accutane commonly results in a long term remission from acne. This is because it shrinks the oil glands which cause spots. The oil glands return to their previous size very slowly by which time you are likely to have out grown acne.
The spots already on your face will dry up, and after about 12 weeks on accutane you should not get any new ones. I have taken it twice if you would like to talk. 80% of patients need only one course lasting 16 to 24 weeks. 20% of patients require a second or third course.

I am 35 y/o and I still have Acne :(

Hi Johnny. It is not uncommon to have acne in your thirties, adult acne is becoming more of a problem. Fortunately there are lots of ways to treat it. Which topical and oral remedies have you already tried?
