Hey, I'm not a doctor, but I also too took accutane for 6 months, as well I have two close friends who also went on accutane. In all of our cases, our acne was mild, and in the chin area and forehead region. For both of my friends, while on accutane, their acne increased in the first couple of months. One of them is now in perfect skin condition, and looks great, the other friend still has acne sometimes, but other than that is still clear. I think if he didn't irritate his face so much, it would be less. As for me, while on accutane, my acne was almost zero, while a few pimples would come here and there. I am now 2 months off of accutane, and I am almost acne free. I wouldn't say it cured m acne, but it definitely helps. What I'm getting as is that this drug works different on different people, but I think accutane will always help even if its not 100% gone. Just make sure to take your dosages, eat healthy, and stay optimistic. =)

Stick with it, Accutane is your best hope of a long term remission from acne. It must be taken for 16-24 weeks, so don't panic yet!
Is your dermatologist pleased with your progress?
Does he want to alter your dose or length of therapy?

Thank you for the response. Im definitely sticking with it but seriously am frustrated. I have a appt on Thursday and I will ask what my doc think of my progress. I thought your face was completely clear the last 2 months. Can they extend the length of my course. Can i do 7 or 8 months?

Usually, a course of Accutane lasts 16-24 weeks and a second one is started, if necessary, 8 weeks later. I live in the UK where we have free healthcare so that may have influenced my dermatologist's decision not to prolong my first course (there are many people on long waiting lists for Accutane here).
The second time I took Accutane my acne was worse initially and I saw a clinical improvement between weeks 12 and 16. I continued until 24 weeks due to having relapsed before.
Whilst on Accutane I also took Diane35 (called Dianette over here) for birth control and to improve my acne.

Well I went to the doc and she said shes not happy with my progress. im taking 70mg a day now and I feel I should be on more. Im 140LBS and i think upping the dose is the answer. I cant change birth controls becasue I already did once during treatment and my doc said not to do that again. I switched from Yaz to orthotryciclin. I'm just a little discouraged.
