Accutane and depression

I am currently on accutane and am depressed... i was depressed before taking accutane but was too scared to tell someone.  I cannot bear it any longer and want to tell someone. If I do, will I be taken off of accutane?  I know this is a serious "side-effect", but it really isnt a side-effect because i feat this way before i even considered taking accutane. Will my doctor take me off of accutane?

Hi. You must tell your doctor who is there to help you. No causal link between Accutane and depression has been made. However, rarely Accutane patients have reported depression, and very rarely existing depression has reportedly worsened.
This will not necessarily preclude you from further treatment, your doctor may adjust your dose or monitor you carefully. Your doctor may feel you warrant evaluation and advice from a psychologist.
If you have any thoughts of harming yourself take no further tablets and seek medical help immediately.

If you have depression and you are taking Acutane, just as a precautionary measurement, chances are you will be taken off Acutane (which ironically could worsen your depression). I took Acutane and it probably did cause some amount of depression but I didn't say anything and thankfully my acne cleared up. I'm not going to say I'm the happiest person in the world but I am 'satisfied' with my appearance now.
