Hi. My son is 9 and also has childhood acne. He has been prescribed Differin as its very effectiveEffective strength cough syrup and generally well tolerated. He has to continue using it for as long as he is prone to acne, but because it is a retinoid not an antibiotic a resistance has not developed.
Talk to your doctor about refering your daughter to an endocrinologist to check her hormones, growth and bone density. My son was on the 7th centile for weight at birth but is now on the 98th centile. This needs to be monitored as he approaches pubertyPuberty and adolescence.
Does your daughter have any other signs of an early pubertyPuberty and adolescence or just the acne?
Eloise.
