Acne and Glycolic Acid

I've been in Iraq now for 10 months.  Before I came to this country I hardly ever broke out. I had the occassional pimple on the side of my face or on my chin, but once I got to this country I started breaking out like crazy.  Plus, I feel like my skin has aged sooooo much here.  I recently started using glycolic acid on my face because they say it's helps with skin texture, wrinkles, and acne.  But I'm a little worried, I've been using this product for about 2 weeks now and my skin and face is A LOT smoother, but I sorta feel like my face looks worse than it did when I began.  I feel like I still have huge pores and my acne got worse and my old acne scars aren't fading.  I honestly don't know what to do.  It says it can up to 3-6 weeks to see an affect.  I just wanted to know if this was normal and should I wait it out?  Or just move on to another product.  I've used things like salylic acid (that did NOT work at all) and I've used benzoyl peroxide (and that's the only thing that's helped, but I still get occassional blemishes).  It is too much to ask for perfect skin like I use to have? I'm only 25 and I feel like I'm old and ugly.  I would really just like an answer to help me fix this problem...Oh and is it true that when you apply a "good" product/regime to your face-your skin with "purge" itself, meaning you'll break out more at first?
