Acne caused by CAH

by Maryann191, Jul 02, 2009 11:19AM
I am a 25 year old female who has been suffering from acne for the past 11 years.  This past spring, I was diagnosed with the adult onset form of congenital adrenal hyperplasia.  Prior to the diagnosis, I was taking spironolactone, which seemed to help a lot.  After the diagnosis, I was switched to a low dose of dexamethasone.  On this medication my skin just got worse and worse.  I talked to my endocrinologist and switched back to the spironolactone, but now my skin has gotten worse than it has ever been (we're talking cystic acne).  I've scheduled an appointment with my dermatologist and I would assume that he will recommend accutane, but I know that I need to wait a month before I go on that.  Is there anything I can do in the meantime?  I'm a recent college graduate looking for a job and it's all I can do to look people in the eye.  I'm also wondering if there are any other options for acne caused by CAH.
