Acne on one side of the cheek and the chin

Hi.
I find it unusual i am breaking out in big red pimples on my chin when i am an 18 year old male. I've heard only women suffer from this. But i have acne on one side of my cheek as well. I used proactive solution for 3 years prior to now, it worked like a treat for 2 years then it stopped working because it was drying out my skin and it had a slight red tinge to it. I am now on a natural skin care regime called Botani. Its making my breakouts worse on my cheek and chin and also on other areas in a mild form. Im seeing a dermatologist soon but i would like to know if you can reccomend any treatments and suggest any reasons why i am breaking out in these two areas only.
