Acne vs mites? Safety of Permethrin

I am a 34 year old with acne for at least 20 yeras.  I saw a dermatologist for years as a child and tried nearly all of the medication options at the time.  I saw my first adult dermatologist today who (literally) in 10 seconds exam stated I don't have acne but mites.  He instantly wrote a  script for a medication and walked out of the room, the whole appointment lasting no more than 60 seconds.  I was so overwhelmed and in shock.  I filled the prescription, and the pharmisist commented that he found the script written very oddly and was concerned about the safety.  The doctor wrote the script for   permethrin to be used every day and night for 30 days.  My brief internet search seems to indicate this is a pesticide that should only be used once and washed off.  It also said that it is not absorbed easily.  I am worried b/c I have a toddler who often touches my face.  Anyone know about the safety or even about the validity of this diagnosis?  Waiting for another dermatologist for a second opinion will take months in my area.  I can't find any openings until Oct/Nov here.  Thanks!
