Acnes

by xbillups, May 27, 2009 03:28AM
I have a question, what might happen if after i finish the medication prescribed by my dermatologist, which consists of Benzoyl Peroxide, Adapelene, Acne Wash and a clarifying lotion? will there be allergies after undergoing such medication? Will the acnes that are almost gone eventually go back? Thank you for answering my question. good day!

Hi. You should not stop this regime as soon as your acne is better, continue for a few months afterwards (or as advised by your dermatologist) to reduce the chance of relapse.
If your tendency to acne continues you may have to re-start this regime but don't worry, medicines like Adapalene can be used safely in the longer term. If topical treatment isn't enough to clear your acne your dermatologist may prescribe an oral antibiotic such as Oxytetracycline, which is even more effective when used in conjunction with a synthetic retinoid like Adapalene.
Eloise.
