Beta Carotene for Acne?

I am looking for natural ways to heal acne. I have run across some ideas saying that beta carotene will help with acne. I take a mulitvitamin with 25,000 I.U. Vitamin A  10% as beta carotene. I wanted to start taking a beta carotene suppliment as well of 25,00 I.U. however, I don't know if that will be too much. Im not sure of the actual I.U. when it comes to the mulitvitamin. Please help

Hi. It is not safe to take high levels of Vitamin A. This can be toxic and cause liver damage. The acne medication Roaccutane/Accutane is made from Isotretinoin, a synthetic retinoid, but this must be prescribed by a dermatologist. Accutane patients require monthly blood tests to test liver function.
Unfortunately, there is a lack of medical evidence that natural remedies heal acne. See your doctor for an effective treatment such as Differin gel (adapalene 0.1%) or a course of oral antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline 250mg twice daily.
Female acne patients will also benefit from taking the combined oral contraceptive pill. the oestrogen it contains blocks the action of androgens (male hormones) on your skin.
