I'm a 17 year old girl, and ive been suffering with acne since i was about 12. I've been taking lymecycline for the past 2 years after trying loads of different creams such a Quinoderm and ther tablets such as OxytetracyclineOxytetracycline-polymyxin b ophthalmic.
I've recently had to come off the Lymecycline because I had a blood test that showed the Billi Rubin in my blood was high and it was effecting my liver in a bad way.
After coming off the tablets, ive been put back on another gel (Cant remember the name) and its not working at all. Ive got really big lumpsLumps in the breasts on my foreheadForehead lift Forehead lift - series and around my mouth, they just will not go.
I'd say i have a pretty good diet. And i normaly get my 5 a day.
I'm sick of looking like a pepperoni pizza - it does nothing for my self esteem.
I was just wondering if anyone is taking any tablets that dont effect my liver, or the contraceptive pill im taking (Mini POP Pill).
Would be a great help :)
Hi. Taking the mini pill could be making your acne worse. Talk to your doctor about changing to an anti-androgen pill called Diane35 (Dianette in the UK) or a pill called Yasmin.
In my experience, the most effectiveEffective strength cough syrup topical acne gel available on prescription is Differin.

Hi. Thanks for your reply.
I'm going to the doctors next week so i'll ask her about it.
I've heard of Yasmin - Isnt it a herbal contraceptive tablet or something? I read about it but i dont htink its available in the UK yet.
It is available in the UK. It is different from other contraceptives because it is not based on testosterone. Dianette is an eostrogen and an anti-androgen, it blocks the action of male hormones in your body to prevent acne and un-feminine hair growth. I use Dianette and oxytetracycline for peri-oral dermatitis-the spots on your chin. I also apply Differin to this area. To prevent it from stinging I use a gentle cleanser by La Roche-Posay. I also use their sponge-on foundation which conceals acne and redness. If you have problems with tetracyclines, erythromycin could be an alternative. Good luck, Eloise x
