Hi. These products are not particularly effectiveEffective strength cough syrup at clearing acne. The best over the counter gel is, in my view, Freederm which contains nicotinamideNicotinamide plus zinc plus folic acid Nicotinamide zcf to reduce acne inflammation.
If this proves of limited benefit see your doctor for Duac gel (clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide) or Differin gel (adapalene 0.1%).
Acne is caused when androgens (male hormones found in both boys and girls) stimulate the sebaceous (oil) glands. Girls with spots find that taking a combined birth control pill such as Diane35 or Yasmin regulates their hormones and clears acne. The pill will also make your periods lighter, more regular and less painful.
The key to clearing acne is to use your treatment regularly and be patient. It is unrealistic to expect immediate results and I would be skeptical of products which claim to achieve this.
