Cold sore or pimple

Okay so a few months ago, I had suddenly got this noticeable red bump on the top of my lip. I had never had a cold sore before so I thought it was a pimple. It was really embarrassing me and figuring it was a zit, I tried to pop it and it hurt really bad. Then my friend told me the next day to use Abreva because it's a cold sore. So I started to do so and now it's basically gone. But now it looks like a pimple on the top of my lip and I'm stressed out that it won't ever go
away. So will it go away? Because it's been months and it's still there. When I smile in pictures, I can see that the
top right of my lip is red from the bump and it's humiliating. Isn't going to be permanent or can I still get rid of it fully?

Never pop a pimple or coldsore because this delays healing time and spreads bacteria.
It is unlikely than this will scar permanently (although this can happen if you repeatedly pick or squeeze). It is likely that this scarring will fade on its own within a year. To speed up healing time use Bio-oil or another scar fading treatment.
