Duac and differin- ANY1 ever used together??

by jtag8907, Mar 08, 2008 12:15AM
hey i have had dealt with moderate, not mild, i would even say bad acne, in the past. Then i used duac and that cleared me up. However, i thought i was becoming dependent of it so then i stopped using it. Everything seeemed fine. i thought i had clear skin. Then i started breaking out again. So i went back on Duac. BUt this time it didnt clear me up , at least not completely. my nose was really oilty and had lots of blackheads, still does, and i had random breakouts on the cheek, some which left scars. And so i went to the derm (NO insurance) and he gave me differin 0.1. He told me to use differin at night and duac in the morning if i wanted to. I also use clean and clear benzoil peroxide wash at night. I have been using only differin.

its been 4wks and it seems as if my skin has gotten worse. it has become really oily (within like an hr i can feel it. and when i touch it, i can see the oil) So i was wondering should i also use duac in the morning? And if i do, how so? what if i exercise during the day, i will sweat off the duac. And wouldnt this dry my skin out alot, since i will constantly be using medication- day and night??

Follow your derm's advice, use Duac in the morning and Differin in the night. But cut out the Clean and Clear which isn't very effective and is probably drying your skin out, making it produce even more sebum to over compensate- there is already BP plus clindamycin in the Duac. Instead use a more gentle cleanser. Eucerin make one for impure skin which is compatible with acne medication. I get mine from Pharmamundi.com and they deliver it quickly. Loiloi xx

I was put on Differin and it drys out your acne to heal. although it actually made my acne worse and i had dry patches all over my face.. I consulted this problem with  my dermatologist and he said that differin is sometimes too much and it's sometimes best not to use it

Talk to your dermatologist about it, and maybe he will recommend pills which work very well.
