Fissure from isotretinoin/accutane

I'm a 29y/o male, 170lbs. I am currently undergoing isotretinoin therapy. I am currently taking 80mg/day. In my fifth week of treatment I developed an anal fissure. I had it checked out by a general practicioner after 6 days and he said it isn't too bad. There is no bleeding but it is very painful.  He gave me some vicadin and advised me to keep the area clean and to put petroleum jelly on the area.  He advised that if does not improve within a couple days that I should schedule an appointment with a gastroenterologist. I also took it upon myself to purchase a sitz bath. Last night I used the sitz bath and also added olive oil which was amazingly soothing to the area. Today I am significantly less sore and have not had to use vicadin to keep the pain under control. I am putting olive oil on the area and the petroleum jelly. I also skipped my dosage of the isotretinoin last night and this morning, believing that I may need to stop for a little while in order to heal properly.

My questions is:

Should I have / should I continue to discontinue use of the medicine until I'm fully healed? I'm worried that I will have undone some of the progress I've achieved up to this point with the medicine but do not want to put myself in a position where this fissure continues longer than necessary. I'm wondering how I should proceed in regards to my treatment.
