General comments on Accutane effectiveness

I'm very conflicted over my experience of taking Accutane (and the various generic versions), and thought I might offer some insight for others. My condition was enlarged oil (sebacious) glands over my face -- bumps. At a fairly high dosage, the Accutane shrunk the glands and the bumps disappeared in two weeks. I then took less of the drug to maintain my smoother complexion. The results were fantastic... BUT temporary. The condition was improved only as long as I took the drug... when the prescription ran out, the bumps returned. I took more courses of the drug (extremely expensive, by the way) but eventually my health insurance would not cover it. So..... beyond the various side effects for some people, I will stress that you may only see improvement as long as you're taking the drug which I found very distressing.

I took a high dose of Accutane for 6 months, 2 rounds. One round didn't work for me. I have now taken 2 rounds and I have clear skin. I would try it again and take a good dose for the whole 6 months. I still may get 1 pimple here and there but its a lot better than acne!
