Had problems for years

by annoyedstudent, Jan 16, 2008 09:10PM
I have had problems with acne for around eight years. I am a 21 year old male. About five years ago, I was on a generic form of accutane for I believe five months. It worked great for the time I was on it, but two or three months after I quit taking it the acne started coming back. Granted, it wasn't as bad as before, but it was still there. To this day, I still have problems with acne, but I think it's become more of a hair growth issue.

To explain: the men in my family are slow to develop facial hair, and I myself can only grow hair on about 40% of my face. I think that as new hair is coming in, my face gets irritated and produces acne. It's never painful, but is always painfully noticeable. The reason I think it's hair growth related is because I do not have acne on the parts of my face that have facial hair, and also because it has been developing on my thighs as more hair comes in and also on my chest, as I only recently  began growing chest hair.

Also, I have noticed a significant increase in the amount of blackheads on my face, especially on my nose and under my eyes. I don't see it as being cleanliness related, because I clean my face twice every day and I am not in a very dirty line of work. Does anybody have any suggestions? Maybe should I try going back on accutane now that I'm older?

You might want to try with TCA since that un-clogs clogged pores and kills off the bacteria causing acne.
Start with a 10% TCA solution and every 4 weeks make a new peeling. After every 1-2 peelings then you can increase the TCA strength by 5%.

You can also use a chemical peel with Salicylic acid since that works in a different way than TCA.
