Hairline spots

Hi,

I seem to be getting some sore spots (not sure if they would be classed as acne or not) in my hairline all around my head? I'm 30 years old and this has been happening now for a couple of years.

Any thoughts?

"Acne" is the term used for spots caused by excess oil from the sebacous glands usually on the face, chest, shoulders and back. Androgens (male hormones found in both male and female bodies) stimulate the sebacous (oil) glands. If your body produces more androgens that needed you may have greasy skin and spots.
You don't say if you are male or female but female acne patients often benefit from taking a combined oral contraceptive pill since the oestrogen it contains blocks the actions of androgens on the skin. Yasmin or Yaz is particularly effective since it contains drospirenone.
If the spots are on the skin close to the hairline see your doctor for a topical gel such as Duac or Differin. If they are actually in your hair/on your scalp, use a good shampoo for oily hair or see your doctor for a medicated shampoo.
