Has anyone ever used Accutane?

Are there any side effects other than you are not allowed to get pregnant while on it?

I have taken it eight years ago.  I remember having slight light headiness.  It worked well for me.  However, I did not complete the prescription. I think I was prescribe two weeks worth of medicine. I only took it for a week.  I had heard of the cons from long term use.

Isotretinoin, Accutane in the USA and Roaccutane in the UK is considered the "gold star" acne treatment when other treatments have failed or relapse has occured. With all medications you need to weigh the expected benefits against the potential side effects. Accutane has a high success rate with about 80% of patients needing only one course lasting 16 weeks. Some patients may have to take 2 or 3 courses. The potential listed side effects are numerous, but most of them are very rare. The most common side effect is dry lips and skin. Less common side effects are nausea and muscle ache. Although no causal effect has been found, some people think accutane can trigger depression. As well as not getting pregnant, you must not take tetracyclines whilst on it or take vitamin A. Please do get back to me with any other questions. Loiloi

Regarding the post above from alone and scared about taking accutane for one or two weeks, this person is mistaken. Your acne can actually get worse for the first 2 weeks and results will be achieved after 12-24 weeks, the average treatment length being 16 weeks.
