Help stop my adult acne

I am a 26 year old female. For the last few months, my acne has been non-stop. I feel like I break out more now than I did when I was in jr. high or high school. I had used the Proactiv skin care line for about 2 years, then stopped because I was no longer seeing the same results as when I first started using it. I then switched to Murad because I heard such good things about it; that seemed to make my acne worse.
I am now using a line called MD Formulations. I started with the acne system, but then switched to using just the face wash. I think I was using too many products. Along with the face wash, I also use a product by Bare Essentials, called Rare Minerals blemish treatment.
I feel like I have at least a couple of new breakouts nearly every day. Everything from painful cyctic acne, to blackheads on my nose and chin, small whiteheads, and I guess just regular pimples as well.
What can I do to get this cleared up? Am I going to have to continue using these expensive products with not-great results? Is this something I need to see a dermatologist about? Thank you for your time.

Hi. Shop-bought products are of limited benefit for anything other than occasional acne. See you doctor for more effective preparations (a trip to the dermatologist may not be necesary, your regular doctor may be able to prescribe you something).
There are a range of prescription acne products available:
If you would like to continue with a topical product, ask your doctor about Differin, a topical synthetic retinoid which is effective and generally well tolerated.
A course of oral antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline or Minocycline will also help. Talk to your doctor about switching to an anti-androgen birth control pill called Diane35 (Dianette in the UK) which clears acne.
Eloise.
