How to get cystic acne caused by Plan B under control

Hi,

I took the Plan B pill about 5 days ago and, despite the powerful Retin-A-Micro gel I had already had prescribed to me, I can't seem to get the cystic acne I'm having under control! What more do I need to do to control this? I realize it's related to all the new hormones my body's having to deal with, so do I need to consider acne pills and another gel? How long can I expect these breakouts to happen?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi there!

These would clear by itself after the effect of the hormones subsides. You could try using benzoyl peroxide or Retin-A that you have been prescribed. Take plenty of water and try keeping the skin clean and oil free (not dry) at all times. If this does not seem to help; I would suggest consulting a dermatologist for an evaluation and appropriate systemic medications.
