Late teen acne

Hello. I am a 19 year old girl with no history of acne, sure got one and one zit from time to time but nothing to talk about. So about 2 months ago I start breaking out badly ! ! And It just keeps gettin worse and the problem is I have no idea what is wrong. I haven changed anything in my surroundings or diet, so I am clueless.
What could be causing this and how do I fix it ?

Hi. Acne is caused by a sensitivity to the effects of Androgens- male hormones found in male and female bodies. Androgens stimulate the sebaceous glands in the skin. Bacteria on the skin feeds off this sebum, blocking the pores and leading to spots. Unfortunately, a healthy diet and lifestyle is not enough to clear acne. Use a good cleanser for oily skin such as Sparkling Clean by Estee Lauder. Ask your doctor for a course of oral antibiotics and/or a topical retinoid such as Differin. Female acne patients will also benefit from taking a combined oral contraceptive pill such as Yasmin to block the effect of male hormones on the skin.
Eloise.

Lots of women have acne appear or get worse in their late teens and into adulthood.  Get to a doctor and try to take care of it soon, as it will most likely just get worse if untreated.

PLEASE, do not go on birth control if you are not already on it.  Hormonal BC usually makes acne worse (along with all the other negative side effects), or if it gets better, as soon as you are off the pill the acne will come back worse than before.  The pill should be used as a last resort AFTER all else has failed and even then, research first.
