Minocycline for acne?

by Shia, Oct 16, 2008 09:59PM
I just moved to a new city and the dermatologist I saw gave me Minocycline for mild acne...maybe moderate. Anyway, she said to only take it for a month, I asked why and she said that's probably as long as you will need to take it. My question is, is a month a traditional amount of time to take this antibiotic? It's just I thought for something like that you would need a time period of 3 months at least for it to be effective.
-Much Thanks for any info.

Hi. A course of minocycline for acne usually lasts 12 weeks. Your acne may clear more quickly but it is better to complete the 12 week course to prevent the acne coming back.
Eloise.
