Post acne marks for years

Hi,
    I  have never really had bad acne , but when i was 17 i went through a few breakouts which left little reddish/puprle dots.  They are very noticable and i have to cover them everyday with make-up. I keep telling myself that they will fade away because they are not technically scars ( i believe this because they dont indent in or stick out.. they are just discolorations) But I am 21 now and they are still there. What is the best way I can get rid of them! I have tried post acne mark spot treatments, bleaching products and many scar topical gels. More about them is that they spots are lightest when i wake up in the morning .. but then when i wash my face they get darker- i dont know if that is any heelpful information because it doesnt really make sense to me.  Your help is appreciated  , ~angela

Have you tried Even Better Skin Tone Corrector by Clinique? This is my favorite product for dealing with post-acne marks and pigmentation.
If store bought products are of limited benefit consider laser treatment.
