Hi. The official advice from the makers of Roaccutane is that you must use contraceptionBirth control and family planning Emergency contraception during your Roaccutane course and for 5 weeks afterwards.
What really concerns me about your post is that you don't appear to be happy about your treatment. Roaccutane is a powerful drug with numerous potential side effects. The decision to take this medicine at this time must be yours. I have taken it twiceTwice-a-day if you would like to talk. Eloise x
Thank you so much Eloise for your answer. Your answer is again different from "one month" and "half of the duration of my treatment". My real concern is why my gynecologist wants me to wait longer...
I have taken roaccutane twice too. Like you, I experienced dramatic results but not the long term remission I was hoping for.
The advice I give regarding pregnancy after isotretinoin is that of the makers of Roaccutane, Roche. If you are still concerned please speak to Dr. Rockoff in our Ask A Doctor Dermatology forum, he will confirm that you must use contraception during your treatment, and for 5 weeks afterwards.

P.S when I was pregnant my skin improved greatly due to the change in hormone levels.

To answer you, I have already used Roaccutane in 1999, and this is my second time. My skin was just perfect after I've finished my first use, but unfortunately the acne came back little by little, until it devastated my face this year. The dermatologist says that acne rarely comes back, but one should be very careful about the cosmetic products he/she uses. But the misuse of these products is not the only reason why acne comes back. Stress and other factors are also counted. Anyway, I'm just sad that it happened just when I was trying to conceive. :(
