Roaccutane maintenance dose

by Bill783, Oct 11, 2007 08:36AM
My dermatologist has suggested i go on a 20mg a day roaccutane maintenance does for 1 month, then move to 1 x 20mg dose every 2 days for about 6 months. From time to time a get sabacous cysts on my face. Will my skin worsen and have cystic breakouts on such a low dose? I weigh 80kg, so the dosage is quite low for my weight, but not sure if it is low enough to prevent breakouts when initially starting the maintenance dose. Also, will i have sensitivity to the sun on this low dose?
thank you

I actually found that 20mg worked better for me than a higher dose. This is because my skin was less red so acne less obvious. I also found the higher dose caused the cysts to become worse before they went away. The higher dose obviously caused more side effects including increased pigmentation which coupled with the angry cysts caused more scarring. I was not as sensitive to the sun on 20mg but did burn when i went on holiday to mexico. loiloi x
