Roaccutane relapse

by marilyn26, Sep 07, 2009 02:05AM
Good day,
I had one cycle of roaccutane(4 months) which resulted in 5 months of clear skin. However, as the drug left my system I have experienced a major relapse and I don't know which products to use again. I believe my acne is hormonal in nature due to the time they appear. I have read a lot of literature on Diane 35, Yasmin and Yaz. Which of these in your opinion would be most effective in treating moderate acne? Thanks.

Hi. Diane35 contains 35 micrograms of oestrogen (ordinary pills contain 30 micrograms) and oestrogen blocks the effects of androgens -the hormones responsible for acne. It also contains an anti-androgen called cyproterone acetate.
Yasmin and Yaz contain a different anti-androgen called DRSP. Yaz contains a lower amount of oestrogen than Yasmin.
80% of Roaccutane patients experience a long term remssion from acne after just one course lasting 16 to 24 weeks. The remaining 20% (including myself) warrant a second or third course.
Eloise.
