Rosacea

My doctor recently put me on DOXYCYCL HYC 100MG because he suspects I have Rosacea. If I do have it, it's very minute. I have a few questions about Rosacea.

Will Rosacea ever go away on its own?
If left untreated will Rosacea hurt me?
Why is Rosacea such a big deal?

Please reply, I know very little on the subject.

Rosacea is a condition related to acne, characterised by redness of the face and thread veins. It normally occurs in middle age. There is a choice of treatments, including antibiotics, accutane and laser therapy. Your doctor has decided that early treatment of your condition is best for you. So, unless you have any unwanted side effects, continue to take your mediciation as prescribed, and your doctor will review you at your next appointment.

Hi I have stage three Rosacea. There are only three stages. 1st stage is probably what you have.
1st stage- Some reddness to the face that comes and goes like a sunburn
2nd stage - the reddness to the face stays longer with acne like pimples. this is not acne. they are very painful and they come and go.
3rd stage the reddness does not leave and your checks, forhead and chin had large acne like pimples that are extramly painful and do not go away.
Rosacea will never go away but you can conrol it. The most important thing to do is stay out of the sun and wear sunblock, the sun is the biggest trigger of the onset of rosecea. If you do not stay out of the sun you will only continue to make it worse. My doctor has me on Accutane and I must say after only using it for two months I look like a normal person again. Accuatane is a drug that comes with a lot of side effects, but in my case worth every side effect. I hope this was helpful.
