I would recommend prescription medicines over celebrity-endorsed products which could be of limited benefit. See your doctor for oral antibiotics such as oxytetracycline or topical lotions like Dalacin or Duac gel. Good luck. Loiloi x

Proactive does work - but from the outside. Loiloi is right, that the antibiotics will work from the inside, and be consistent. It would be worth a try. They keep sending you shipments every 30 days, and when I tried it, the stuff lasts forever. Try one, but also make a derm appt.

You are a good mom for taking care of this! Good luck!

I had acne as a young adult and almost all my life. I have tried everything. At my last Dr. Dermatology visit, she told me that the medicated creams where to kill the bacteria on my face. When I ran out of the prescription, I tried something radical, something else that kills bacteria, anti- bacterial hand soap.  IT WORKS - it kills the bacteria and my ol'face is clean, most of the time!  The other big key, is not to touch the skin, only with clean hands.  good luck

i used proactive for the required time and it worked, but soon after i ran out of it my acne came right back. it never really went away. proactive treats from the outside so it never clears it up. i wouldnt suggest paying all the money for it.

You should ask your doctor if this medicene is right for your son, if not do not take because it would endanger him evan more.

depending on the severity of the acne, accutane worked very well for preventing my acne which was very severe.  Accutane is doctor prescribed and the side effects can be kind of intense. But it works.
