Scalp Acne

by lost_in_despair, Jan 09, 2009 12:32AM
I am suffering from chronic scalp folliculitis which is concentrated in occipital area of my scalp. It leads to scarring and small circular patches of baldness can be seen in my head. Very embarrassing for a person who goes to a university and have so many goals in life .....

I have been on tetracycline for 7 months now, the intensity has decreased but the folliculitis is still there. When I take ampicillin, the inflammation disappears.

I have also been on accutane for 2.5 months but the dermatologist took me off because I was having headaches. During that time my skin became cystal clear .... the folliculitis re-appeared a week after stopping accutane.

I have tried Nizoral, Coal-Tar shampoo, Tea-Tree oil, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, 100s of types of shampoos, anti-bacterial soaps .... nothing has helped .... sometimes I feel that what is the purpose of living this life with this pain in my scalp skin ... inflammation ... I have hope but I am also despaired. Any suggestions?
