Sebacious Cyst on Back

Sebacious Cyst on Back

I have a huge cyst on my back between the shoulder blades, and I went to a dermatologist 10 days ago, who said it was the largest they'd ever seen & prescribed antibiotics.  So far the cyst has not decreased in size but is less red and far less painful/irritated, and today by squeezing my shoulder blades together I was able to shoot streams of pus 3 or 4 times for the first time (I had tried this several times with only a small drop coming out in the previous 10 days.)  Is this a sign of improvement, and should I continue to try to expel more of it, or should I stop doing this ?  I am scheduled to go back to the doctor in a few days.  Thank you in advance for the advice !

It will probably relieve pressure and make you more comfortable, but it is likely to refill, unfortunately.  Did they say you would need to have it surgically removed, or do they think it might go away without surgery?  I seriously doubt it will go away without surgery, personally.

The hope is for the antibiotics to shrink it enough to be surgically removed.  Otherwise it will have to be "avulsed" or drained, which in this case would leave a huge hole.

Yes, you want it drained, but my thought is that without proper treatment you may become more infected. Try to see your doctor sooner. It is very difficult for you to treat something that is in the middle of your shoulder blades.
