Should I get back on birth control to clear up my acne???

okay, so i've been off birth control (Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo) for about 4 months now...and about a month ago my face started to break out HORRIBLY! I have serious acne now and I have NEVER broken out this bad before in my entire life...usually my worst was like 5 pimples. I am 100% sure that I am breaking out like this because I got off my birth contol. There is no other reason I could be getting so many pimples, I'm not stressed, I eat a well-balanced diet, drink plenty of water, get enough rest, and I wash my face twice a day with Aveeno clear complexion cream cleasner and then apply Aveeno moisturizer lightly. I have also noticed lately that my skin feels more oily than usual, I think this is because my hormones are all crazy and producing more oil on my face. So...I was considering getting back on my birth control. Has anyone here ever done the same thing? and after you got back ON birth control did your acne clear up? Do you think getting back on my birth control will help my skin stop breaking out so much?

I was like you, I started to breakout once I got off of my birth control. I even went back to the doctors to get back on birth control cause my skin was so bad, but I decided against taking it soley for that reason. Try washing your face with antibacterial Dial soap, once in the morning and once at night. Pat dry, do not rub your face after washing. It will dry your skin out, so you will need to get an all organic oil free Moisturizer. Try that for two weeks. It really helped me. My dad is an RN and he suggested it to me. It has really cleared my face up. If it doesn't work for you (because everyones body is different) then talk to your doctor about birth control.

Hi. Acne forms when androgens (hormones) stimulate the sebaceous glands. Anti-androgen or combined birth control pills therefore help in clearing and preventing acne.
If you have a particular reason for not taking the pill (heavy smoker, overweight, over 35) speak to your doctor about other acne treatments. Oral antibiotics such as Oxytetracycline are helpful, as are topical retinoids such as Retin-A.
Eloise.
