Skin looks as if it was burned

The skin around the anis and about four to six inches long (top to bottom) appears to be burned.  It is not hot nor does it feel hot, it sometimes cracks and bleeds.  There is some itching but not severe.  Applying an ointment helps and it appears to be healing but we have been treating it for three weeks.  I do not think it is acne but was not able to change the topic.

Have you tried an anti-fungal cream such as Lotrimin AF?  Fungal infections like moist areas and around the anus is one of those places that doesn't get a lot of air cirulation.
