Started Getting Spots after Roaccutane (isotretinoin)

Hi, i have had acne for about 3 years, i have used benzoyl peroxide along with 2 or 3 other facial creams with no success. I then went on 3 different antbiotics for about 6 months for each one 18months in total and they didnt help at all. After asking my doctor for over a year I finally got referrd to a dermatologist who put me on accutane staright away, 40mg a day for 4 months. After 2 months on accutane i had no spots at all after finishing the treatment my skin was dry but still no spots. 3-4 months after finishing the treatment, im getting lots of whiteheads again around my mouth whereas before i used to only get them on my cheeks. I would like to go back on Roaccutane as i feel a second course would finish it off for good but it took so long to convince my doctor to reffer me last time im worried he wont and my skin will gradually get worse and worse. what should i do?

p.s Im 20 years old from the UK,

Thanks, Tom

I been there. I had severe acne and cysts till I was 32yrs old. I am now 33 and almost acne free. I still get acne but not enough to panic. I had it really bad. I believe I found a regimen that worked for me. I was in the same boat as you. This is what I did and it finally worked after trying every med and over the counter product there ever was. Here is my regimen, of by the way, I am really light skinned and have oily skin.  I stopped drinking milk, I noticed when I drank milk I developed cysts. Milk produces hormones that are known to break people out. I know drink almond milk. I also use this product called tanda, its a bit expensive but it works, its a blue light therapy that eliminated bacteria in your face. I also bought apple cider vinegar, it really stinks so use it at night, but it helps with my oily skin and last I make aspirin masks, crush 5 to 6 aspirins let it dissolve in very litttle water and then use it as a mask for 15 minutes or so.  This is what I do and I still get some bumps here and there but for the most part I am acne free. I am a man by the way.  I hope this helps.

Just FYI,  Roaccutane has severe side effects. go to www.medications.com to see if other people are having the same problems..

I'm in the USA, and I don't know, but after you've been to the dermo once, I don't think you need another referral, would you?  You are already set up with the doctor.  You could try calling your dermo and ask if you can just come in to talk about Accutane.  If it's just whiteheads, not acne, I wonder if it would help it?

I have been on one of the Accutane medicines for a few weeks, and the only side effects I've noticed thus far is I'm more sensitive to the sun, more oiliness in the start, and recently more dried out skin.  I'm going for a blood check up tomorrow to see how my internal is doing from it.  My dermo said that about 20% of people need a second course of treatment.  My papers say you have to wait 2 months after first treatment before you can do a second treatment, so you are all ready.

Good luck.
