Tanning?

I've had pimples on my back since I was 10 years old, (It's somewhat of a curse.)
and I have medication for my face that I try to use on it but I can never reach it all, and it's to expensive to put it on the whole surface of my back.
So anyway, My dad who's a Big "beach guy" says to "get some sun" and that will clear it up.
Is this true? Does tanning, or exposure to the sun help to clear away pimples?
If so, would tanning salons work?

Hi. UVA rays from the sun or a tanning bed can clear up acne but over exposure is dangerous because of skin cancer. Instead, get some oral antibiotics for acne from your doctor such as oxytetracycline or erythromycin. Instead of using your face cream on your back buy Clinique's spray for blemishes on chest and back. Love eloise x

loiloi will probably hate me for this haha, but yea it does.
i have had persistent acne for some time now, and it almost completely cleared over the summer when i was in the sun several days a week, as well as my scars.
unfortunately, it came back with a vengance when school started back up and i dont have time to go to the tanning bed.
im on doxycycline, clindamycin, and a benzoyl wash, and nothing works but the sun. :-/

I agree with aisforalex, it does. Don't know which is worse, all the meds, or the effects of the sun. Just do it with common sense, good luck!
