Teenager with Colitis and Cystic Acne

My beautiful daughter has cystic acne.  She also has colitis (which thankfully we have been able to control with her diet).  She was put on YAS birth control pill and Doxycycline a few years back and she developed beautiful skin.  This summer the acne returned with a vengence.  The GP put her on a new birthcontrol pill designed more for acne control and she continues with doxycycline and a tprescription opical cream (acutane-like)  She cleans and mosturizers her face regularly.  She is a high performance athelete (a rower) and excercises a minimum of 90 minutes 6 days a week plus lift weights and plays basketball for high highschool team.  She eats well - is totally gluten free/lactose free.  She rarely eats junk food

Is there anything else we should be doing.  Acutane injections are not an obtion as of the collitis.

Hi there!

Well, the treatment of acne is dependent on the severity of lesions. If the current regimen seems to be working well, I would suggest sticking to it. In addition it is advised to keep the skin clean and oil-free at all times, wash the face atleast 3 times a day with a mild soap, take plenty of water fruits and vegetables and avoid stress for best results.
