Wax plugs, blackheads on forehead

Hi,
My boyfriend gets hard wax deposits in his face rather than acne puss. He is 31 years old and said he has been getting these since high school, but they seem to be worse now then they were when he was younger. He eats healthy and works out regularly. I was told by my dermatologist that nothing can be done to get rid of them. We've tried salicylic acid, etc. but nothing really helps. Do you have any recommendations? Products, etc.? Also, what is this condition called? I cannot remember the name my dermatologist told me, but I think it starts with a "p".

Hi. I would recommend a synthetic retinoid like Differin which will work deep into the pores, rather than Salicyclic acid which is of limited benefit.
Oily skin, blackheads and acne are seldom a result of poor diet or unhealthy lifestyle. Androgens stimulate the sebaceous glands and the hairs which grow from them. If you have high levels of androgens or are particularly sensitive to their effects your glands may produce too much oil. Your glands then become blocked with excess oil and bacteria which feeds off this oil and skin problems result.
