Whey Protein

I have been off accutane now for almost 9 months and, although my acne persisted for a few months after finishing the course, I am now lucky enough to enjoy clear skin 95% of the time.

My acne problems never seemed to be helped years ago by the bodybuilding I was doing and the protein shakes, supplements etc I was taking alongside my training regime. However, I gave all this up in my battle to rid my body of acne, whether or not it was the cause I still don't know.

I really want to start back at the gym on the weights, etc, but I'm scared that too much weight training and bodybuilding will result in acne (growth hormones etc), and if I take whey protein to aid recovery and build muscle, will this spark changes in my blood / digestive system / overall skin health? I know people claim food has no bearing, but as an IBS sufferer I know that milk makes me bloated and too much sugar gives me eyebrow acne.

Thanks!

Whey Protein is derived from cheese, and has had lactose removed via processing and filtration.

In your GI tract, whey protein is broken down into amino acids and small peptides, which are then taken up into your enterocytes, and further processed into individual amino acids. This same process occurs with all protein sources that are consumed.
The amino acids are then processed by your body, following metabolic pathways according to your body's metabolic needs.

Excess amino acids that are not utilized are broken down via the urea cycle to process the Nitrogen wastes, and the remaining carbon skeletons are converted and stored.

Continue to exercise and consume a balanced diet high in fresh vegetables, fruits, and grains.

As a sufferer, it may be recommended to reduce red meat consumption.
Also, peppermint oil mixed in with tea is recommended to reduce colonic spasms.

Good Luck.
