accutane and depression

I took accutane (Roaccutane in UK) twice. I was very happy on it as it gave me a complete break from my acne. After my second relapse i was treated for anxiety and depression with diazepam and venlafaxine. I wonder to what extent the occurance of depression after taking roaccutane is related to relapse, that is that the acne causes the depression. Or does it occur to the same extent in those who's treatment resulted in remission? I would be interested to hear from those who's treatment cured their acne but still developed depression, what did your negative thoughts center around? i feel depressed because the acne is back. I would also be happy to contribute to any research being done on the subject. I am available to answer any skin care questions that i can on this forum, as i've had acne for 20 years. Loiloi xx

I'm surprised that no-one has answered my question. There is a lot of discussion about roaccutane causing depression, but i have not received any answers based on personal experience. I would like to hear from anyone who suffered mental illness after taking accutane (depression, anxiety, suicidal ideations etc) This happened to me after having acne for 20 years and trying everything including accutane twice. In my opinion the depression was related to the severity of the relapse, that is that the acne caused the depression and the accutane actually benefitted my mental health by temporarily freeing me from acne. I would particularly like to hear from people whose acne was cured by the accutane but still went on to develop depression, what did you feel depressed about? xx
