accutane and menstruation problems

hi, i withdrew from accutane after using it for around 5 weeks or so because I started getting headaches, dizziness and such. I also lost weight, around 5 pounds..  After 2 days of the withdrawal, I start to feel extremely dizzy and nauseated. I took Gravol to ease the senstation but it worked for worthwhile. I had intercourse around that time too. I'm also 18 days late for my period... I took a test, it said negative. I'm a little worried,, is it because of my withdrawal of accutane?

Highly unlikely that you are late b/c of accutane, maybe the dizziness. ANY possibility you could be pregnant? I'd look for other causes for your symptoms.

i took two preg tests and it said negative =/ so I'm really not sure and I'm very worried. I have been nauseous before i took accutane and before the intercourse as well. It had been happening for over 4 months. I went to the doctor so many times and could not find anything. So, I'm not sure whether the symptoms i have now is because of pregnancy or accutane or my past sickness. It's really hard to tell =/

what should i do?

Also it is unlikely that you are pregnant because in order to get accutane I believe the policy is that you must be on 2 birth controls.

I would go to different doctors. Get as many opinions as possible.

It is possible to get a false negative in the early stages of pregnancy. Patients are advised to use two methods of contraception (ie the pill and a condom) for a month after stopping accutane. Are you on the pill and did you use a condom when you had sex? Accutane carries a high risk of malformation if taken during pregnancy so if you are pregnant you will be refered to a specialist for evaluation and advice. It is also possible that all this worry is contributing to both the nausea and possibly your missed period. Having a scan is the only way to exclude pregnancy, so get your doctor to arrange a scan for you. I really hope things turn out well for you, i am thinking of you. Loiloi xx

thanks! to all that replied. I got my period and im so happy. I believe that the medications i've been taking previously might have disrupted my cycle. However, though I still have those tensions in my head. My head feels heavy and I am very dizzy and nauseous all the time. Is it because of Accutane hence that I only took it for five weeks? I just want someone to second my thought before I go to the doctor again. I just want to get better and I've had this dizziness/nausea problem for over 4 months now and I really don't know what triggered it. The reason I started taking Accutane is because of my acne and self-esteem. But I think it had worsen my condition. Thank you for your support again, I really appreciate it.

If you are dizzy and nauseous 4 months after being off the accutane, it sounds like you have a different problem. I would definitely go to the doctor about it if I were you.

Personally, I've been on accutane for 6 months now (just finishing the last month) and I've had no issues with dizzyness or nausea, but my period the past 2 months hs been really irregular - 2 weeks late, then 1 week early, now 2 weeks late again. It's annoying, but as long as you know you're not pregnant, it's not all that scary.
