i have been using accutane for 1 month and a week, and my hair is noticably thinner in the front...its breaking off easily and is shedding more than usual. i stopped accutane ever since... what can i do to stop the shedding and help my hair get back to normalNormal saline flush...i am taking biotinBiotin forte Biotin forte with zinc, zinc, and vitamin e. im only a 21 y/o femaleCondoms Female condoms Female sexual dysfunction and this is extremely extremely devastating because not only do i have moderate acne i now have incredibly thin hair especially in front for every one to see. please help.
My son was 18 when he lost his hair while on accutane. He now takes propecia which has helped tremendously, but he must stay on it forever. I have severe body aches and joint pain ever since i took accutane two years back. I now see a rheumatologist who says he would have taken us both off accutane at once. Detox your body, eat whole foods, no fried foods, chips, diet sodas(aspertame or any artificial sweetners) and drink lots of water and i bet you will see your skin clear up. OURS DID! GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS.
Accutane is your best hope of a long term remission from acne. It works by shrinking the sebaceous glands which then grow back to their normal size very slowly, by which time you will probably have outgrown your acne.
Temporary hair loss or rarely an increase in hair grow is a potential side effect. I had an increase in facial hair whilst on this medicine, which reversed when the medicine was out of my body (5 weeks after stopping).

I was on Accutane twice, and I finished up the second treatment about 3 years ago. I got amazing results and my face has remained acne-free ever since. However, towards the end of the second treatment, I noticed my hair starting to fall out a lot more than usual. I decided to ignore it, and just got used to the excessive shedding. It wasn't until recently that I realized that I really have a problem. I remove a giant hairball from my shower NIGHTLY and hair also accumulates in hairballs on the floor...it is quite gross. My hair is noticeably thinner...I used to have thick, gorgeous hair, and now it is so thin that I can barely put it into a ponytail! This is really upsetting because I am a 20 year old female. I was wondering if anyone with the same problem has any suggestions. I recently went to my dermatologist about it, and now am taking 2000 mcg of biotin...not sure if that's going to help at all, but I'm trying it!
