Hi. I would recommend Cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser (they have just started selling these in the UK, I get mine from Lloyds Chemist).
See your doctor for a course of oral antibiotics to kill acne-causing bacteria on the skin and/or a topical retinoid such as Differin. Female acne patients will also benefit from taking an anti-androgen contraceptive pill such as Yasmin or Dianette.
Eloise.

Acne Treatment:

I suggest you try products that are comprised of 100% organic, natural ingredients.  There is definite proof that specific popular active ingredients that are included in OTC Acne Treatments that cause blistering and crusting of the area of the skin that has been treated the most.  In any event, using a natural acne treatment is your best bet not only to clear your blemishes and breakouts, but keeping your skin in good shape, not dry and crusty.

Hi Layla,

Try not to worry, the unfortunate truth is that spots and blemishes affect people of all ages. Even though around 85% of 12-24 year olds suffer from blemishes, around one in four adults (25-44) experience break outs. And sometimes blemishes can start as late as the 20s and 30s.

Spots affect women especially, as their hormones are constantly flunctuating - which is a huge factor. Nearly half of adult women can suffer from mild to moderate blemishes

The best thing you can do is find a cleansing routine that works for you – using a product that has been approved by dermatologists and experts.

For more information about blemish myths visit www.proactiv.co.uk, which also gives you information on how to treat this problem.

Hope that helps!
