Hi,

There are no foods which cause acne or prevent acne unfortunately. Acne is caused by raised levels of androgens (male hormone) in the body which stimulate the sebaceous glands and makes the skin more oily this then blocks the pores and makes a nice home for acne causing bacteria. Stories about, chocolate and pizza's causing acne is a total myth, and there is no truth in it at all.

If you have been unsuccessful in finding a face wash or cream from a store that helps your probem visit your GP, there are various treatments from creams, to gels, to anitbiotics which can help clear up your problem.

Another important action is NOT to pick or squeeze at the pimples, this will spread bacteria and will cause scarring, it will also make the pimple redder and may cause it to swell also.

Good Luck

Hi.
Food does not cause or prevent acne.
Acne patients have high levels of androgens, or a particular sensitivity to the effects of androgens. Androgens are male hormones which occur in male and female bodies. Androgens stimulate the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin. If too much oil is produced the pores become blocked with excess oil and bacteria which feed off this oil.
If over the counter acne treatments such as Freederm or Clearasil are of limited benefit, see your doctor for a prescription strength acne gel such as Duac or Differin. Your doctor may also prescribe you some antibiotic tablets to clear your acne.
Eloise.
