Moderate exposure to ultraviolet light, eg a sunbed or sunbathing can be helpful in clearing acne but don't use this method excessively due to the possibility of sunburn and skin cancer. What tablets were you given? The best antibiotics for acne are tetracyclines such as lymecycline or oxytetracycline, but even these will take about three months to work so be patient. They will be more effective if used in conjunction with a topical gel like Differin. If you are female, going on an anti-androgen contraceptive pill like Yasmin or Diane35 will help. Please note that if you take the pill and anti-biotics together you will have to use a condom as there is a risk of antibiotics lessening the pill's contraceptive properties. Please also note that with some of these medications, using sunbeds is contra-indicated so please read the label. Loiloi x
