acne that won't go away

Hi

I am really worried about the extremely tiny breakouts on my left cheek. They have been there for over six months now. I went to a dermatologist and she gave me few samples to reduce flakes around my nose and a cream that came in small round white container. I am dark and suffer from hyperpigmentation as well. They had disappeared after I used that cream for about a month. I wash my face with Cetaphil that my doctor prescribed and am now using samples for the blemishes. But to my suprise i got the breakout back in a fortnight. I still have that Cordran lotion that she gave me for nose flakes, but don't have the cream anymore. My scheduled visit is not for another 2 months. I am really worried about it now. Can you please help me understand what is going on with me?

Hi. Acne can return when you stop treating it and a repeat prescription from your dermatologist may be indicated. Phone to see if she can see you any sooner.
In the meantime, there are things your regular doctor can prescribe for acne, she does not have to be a dermatologist. Oral antibiotics such as oxytetracycline can be useful in treating spots and if you are female taking an anti-androgen contraceptive pill will help too. I don't know which topical products you were using before but Differin and Duac gel are good.
If you cannot see your general doctor immediately for any reason buy some Freederm, which in my opinion is the best acne gel you can get without a prescription. Loiloi xx
