See your doctor for a course of oral antibiotics such as Lymecycline 408mg once daily or Oxytetracycline 250mg twice daily. Also ask for a topical retinoid cream such as Retin-a (tretinoin) or Differin (adapalene 0.1%).
Acne is caused by raised levels of androgens (male hormones such as testosterone) common during teenage years. Androgens stimulate the sebaceous (oil) glands. Bacteria on the skin feeds off this excess oil, blocking the pores and resulting in inflammed acne spots.
Best Wishes, Eloise.
