acne

Am 29 yrs, i have had acne since i was 22. Tried each and every treatment out there but it wont go away. I am african so the scars get to be really dark. Just dont know what else is out to treat this condition. Sometimes it gets to be worse during ovulation and menses period. then it ceases. Help

Hi. You don't say specifically which treatments you have tried.
Have you taken Diane35 (called Dianette in the UK)? This contains an oestrogen and an anti-androgen which block the action of androgens -the hormones responsible for acne.
Have you taken Accutane (called Roaccutane in the UK)? This is the gold standard treatment for acne. In most cases the patient experiences a long term remission from acne after one course lasting 16 to 24 weeks. If you have already tried this, remember that 20% of patients including myself require a second course. Discuss this with your doctor.
