Hi everyone,

my name is pete and I am on a quest to ride my acne and redness around my neck. I have had serve acne and had 3 courses of accutane pills but the acne worsened. Whats up with that? I taught this was called the golden pill? Is there anyone out there that can consider another option besides this? People, help... Please.

Hi Pete.
Accutane results in long term remission from acne in 80% of patients. It is therefore, statistically, the most effective treatment available for acne. No medication is 100% guaranteed.
As you also suffer with redness use a bland cleanser such as Cetpahil or La Roche-Posay. Clinique have a new Redness Solutions Range which may be helpful, less expensive is Eucerin's Redness Relief range. Avoid potentially irritating acne gels such as Retin-A, Differin (adapelene) is much better tolerated.
An oral antibiotic such as Oxytetracycline will help acne and can clear redness associated with acne and rosacea.
Use good quality shaving products if you get redness around your neck. Clinique make a great shaving gel and a post-shave balm to soothe redness and prevent ingrowing hairs and bumps. Apply Differin at night, then wash your face in the morning before shaving.
Do not apply acne gels immediately after shaving as this will result in irritation.
Eloise.
